A selfish reason for being thankful

A study by Dr. Robert A. Emmons, a psychologist and professor at the University of California-Davis, "discovered scientific proof that when people regularly engage in a systematic cultivation of gratitude, they experience a variety of measurable benefits: psychological, physical, and interpersonal.” So even with so much going wrong in our world right now, could it be that gratitude is as healthy a personal discipline as working out or eating right?

Gratitude as a motivator

It's one thing to get fired up about something at a conference or training seminar. It's another thing to sustain that excitement once you're back in the “valley” of everyday workplace challenges. How, then, can we find the motivation we need to not only establish and start pursuing worthwhile goals, but also to sustain the effort?
